On this edition of Marketing Mentors we catch up with Jordan Bain from Kelvin Grove, who's been popping up in our feeds with his social media! here's what he's up to, and some tips he shares to improve your social media presence. 

Hey Jordan! What you working on?

I'm still pretty fresh when it comes to real estate, just over four years in. Throughout my journey I noticed that there was an opportunity in the market in terms of going digital and social.

There was an opportunity for me to get in there, and I jumped on it early!

What made you want to do that little bit extra?

Mainly because no one else was doing it. If they were doing it, they weren't doing it effectively.

You always see the standard property video come up or standard property photos come up, but they didn't seem to be getting great exposure or great views. So, that was the main thing for me. 

What made you want to shoot 'Chewin' the Fat' knowing it wouldn't get immediate sales?

Good question! I actually try and steer as far away as possible from being the 'typical' real estate agent. There's a big stigma around the 'cheesy real estate agent', or the 'greasy' real estate agent.

And obviously I love real estate and all things property, but I'd prefer talking about other things than talking about myself.

Do you think more agents should be on social?

There’s obviously a lot of opportunity there. It's funny how so many people are still stuck in their ways saying, "Oh, there's nothing wrong with direct mail and letterbox drops".

So many people are doing those that everyone must get them in their mailbox and they barely read them.

So, I think my aim is to try and get further ahead than anyone else on social. The reach and the exposure you can get from social media is enough to really get you thinking...

There's so much you can do with targeting specific demographics, specific locations, age groups, and even more which is huge.

There’s just so much power behind it, and I think people are grossly underestimating the power of it.

Any tips for an agent who's holding back?

I think there's so much opportunity on social media. I also think there's a market there for those people who are doing four or five presentations a day, just doing a segment in the car in between presentations.

I think people will appreciate it how raw it is. People are seeing the back end of things, and they like to see the process, not just the sold sign.
